Captured Boko Haram wives, children, handed over to governors of affected states – Army

The 4 Special Forces Command in Doma Monday handed over the 778 women and children of the Boko Haram terrorists captured recently to governors of some affected states.

TIMELY POST learnt that the Special Forces Command, in a joint operations with other security operations bursted the camps of the terrorists in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Commandant of the Special Forces Command, Major General MG Ali affirmed that the handover exercise was conducted at the command headquarters in Doma, a suburb of the state.

But a break down of the 178 captured persons include 86 women and 232 children from Niger State, 20 women, 64 children from Kano, 15 women, 42 children from FCT, 13 women, 26 children from Katsina and 20 women, 43 children from Sokoto State.

Others are Kebbi State with two women and seven children, Kogi State 15 women and 31 children, Kaduna State 12 women and 16 children, Bauchi State four women and 12 children and Borno State with seven women and 18 children.

Added among those captured are seven women and 22 children from Adamawa, three women and nine children from Zamfara, eight women and 11 children from Nasarawa, three women and four children from Jigawa, two women and seven children from Gombe, five women and 11 children from Kwara as well as one woman only from Yobe.

Speaking during the handover, Ali affirmed that the operation was nicknamed “Operation Nut Cracker.”

“Operation Nut Cracker is being conducted to clear Ugya and Panda forests, Uttu and contagious hills in Nasarawa State. Other areas of interest include Zagana, Makpa, Agbuchi and Barada in Koton Karfe Local Government Area of Kogi State.

He also explained that the terrorists were allegedly involved in killings, kidnapping for ransom, abduction for slavery and sex wives, cattle rustling among other banditry acts.

He said, “the Boko Haram terrorists in North Central Region over the years have been using these villages as camps to unleash mayhem on victims along Okene – Lokoja road, Lokoja – Abaji road as well as Toto – Umaisha road.”

“They also use the same camps to terrorise people in contagious villages there by making social and economic activities also non-existing in the general area.”
